News Report
Here a list of who's in my group and the roles within the group for this project.
My group:
Director - Emily Barresi
Lights/Boom Operator - Liam King
Camera Operator - Rhianwen Davies
Production Sound Mixer - Kimberly McClarnan
Actors:
Anchor - Adam Shailer
Reporter - Matthew Davies
Witness - John Rose
Production Sound Mixer -
For my role, I had to collect all the sound equipment from the stores in University and also make sure that I had spare batteries with me just incase and a SD card. I set up all the sound equipment so we were ready to start filming. As Liam's job was the Gaffer, he also helped me by holding the for me. Before we could all start filming, I had to check if the volumes were correct and making sure that when Adam starts to talk, the volume would hit just about -12 which is the correct volume. I had some test runs to double check to see if they are perfect for the actors other wise there would be problems when it comes to editing the audio and trying to lower the volume.
Overall Performance -
For filming this project, it was hard because we couldn't get the lighting right for the green screen and we were there for ages to figure out how to get it right and also that we had until we all came back after easter because we had to film the location again due to time. But apart from all of that, I enjoyed creating news report, we all helped each other, especially when it came to getting the lighting right from the green screen as Liam was struggling a bit but it was really fun to make. When we came back from Easter, straight away we all met up and filmed the location bit for the reporter and witness so we could get it done as soon as possible so we could move on to our final film. I enjoyed my role in sound, I found it very interesting and fun to do and would love to do it again.
Problems? -
There were loads of problems and issues during this project. One of the actors that our Director Emily had planned had dropped out last minute on us so we asked about and couldn't get anyone to help us for being the anchor so our only option was to ask our lecture Adam if he could be the Anchor which he agreed to do. As I said, there were problems with the lighting for the green screen so that took a lot of time to get right and it took us a lot of time to get an anchor so we wasted a lot of time and that resulted when we finished inside in the studio we were ready to film outside on location but the problem was that it started to rain, the battery on the camera was very low and loads of people were walking past, talking and cars which was all heard when I was on sound so we had to finish there and all agreed to meet up when we come back from our Easter break. When we came back from Easter and started to film for the on location bit again, there was another big problem as we had someone to do the witness part but they also dropped out last minute on us and also Rhianwen who was supposed to be camera operator wasn't in due to illness but luckily enough, one of the boys in my class John was free and agreed to help us to be our witness and also to take over Rhianwen's part of being camera operator.
