List of Tools for Sound and Sound Crew

Today's Lesson

Today in Manolo's lesson, we have learnt more about sound. I was glad he went over sound today as I haven't had much experience with sound and not knowing what the tools and equipment are for them so from today I was happy with the lesson.  He went over what equipment you use while we on set for a film and also who is in the sound crew and what do they do as their jobs.

Here is a list of tools that he has told us for sound:

List of Tools -
-Microphones
- Blip - Use outdoors because of the wind
- Softie
- Boom Pole
- Location Mixer - Mixes Sound
- Location Recorder
- Headphones
- XLR Balanced Cables

Other Important Tools -
- Batteries
- Charger
- Extension Cable
- Media Cards
- Sound Report
- Clapper Board when shooting

This was very handy and useful information to know because when it's my turn to be in charge of the sound for our groups one minute film, I know what equipment I need to bring along with me and also what spares I need in order to become better and to have a better understanding.

Sound Crew -
- Supervising Sound Editor - Creative role, works with the director, picture editor and producer
- Location Recordist/Mixer - Records the dialogue on set
- Dialogue Editor - Edits and assembles the dialogue
- SFX Editor - Sound effects editors
- Foley Artists - Create actual foley sounds for the film
- Music Mixer - Recording and mixing music
- Music Supervisor - Process of choosing negotating and incorporating pieces of music
- Re -recording Mixers - Team of engineers who mix the soundtrack of the project

This information again was very useful because this shows how many different roles are there in the sound crew and could help me in future projects so I would roughly know what my role is and the job and tasks I would have to carry out.
